Jessica Simpson has revealed in her new memoir that sexual abuse in childhood experienced led to addiction problems as an adult. ‘Now,’ the 39-year-old singer’s upcoming memoir, it turns out that she turned to alcohol and pills to help cope with the trauma.

Jessica Simpson is baring it all in her new memoir, “an Open Book”.

The singer, 39, tells us about the most intimate moments of her life, including her marriage to Nick Lachey, the sexual abuse she experienced during her childhood, the pressure she felt to lose weight, which led her to the use of diet pills.

Here are the five most shocking things we learned from her powerful new book.

1. Simpson’s history of sexual abuse

The mother-of-three revealed that she was improperly touched by a friend of the family’s daughter when she was 6-years-old.

“It was supposed to start with the tickling of my back, and then go on to the things that were extremely uncomfortable… I was a victim, but in one way or another, I felt that I was in the wrong,” Simpson describes it in an excerpt from a memoir shared with People magazine.

It took Simpson to six years to tell her parents, Tina and Joe Simpson about Simpson’s and her dad “didn’t say anything, but we were at my parents’ house with a friend, but we weren’t talking about what I had said to them.”

2. Alcohol and pill abuse

The repressed trauma that led Simpson to turn to alcohol and pills.

“I was killing myself with the drinking and the pills,” she admitted in her own book. She was sober a year in 2017, after she has been “zoned” in on Halloween to help get their children ready for the party, Simpson said.

“I was scared to death for letting [my children] to see me in that kind of fashion designer to be admitted. “I’m ashamed to say that I don’t know who they are in their costumes on that night.”

Later that night, Simpson said she took an Ambien and woke up the next morning, in an effort to prevent her children: “I went to sleep, afraid to look, afraid that I had failed them. I hid until they left, and then get drunk.”

Dawn realized that her lifestyle choices were not healthy at all, and I have heard a couple of good friends that she needed help. “We’ve got to stop. Something has to stop it. And if it’s the alcohol that’s doing this, and to make it worse, then I put it to you,” she reminded him. “Giving up alcohol was easy. I was in love with the bottle. How can it be allowed for me to remain complacent, and insensitive.”

3. Her first marriage to Nick Lachey

Simpson announced at the meeting of the boy-band’s female singer in an industry Christmas party when she was just 18 and he was 25.

“Nick loved the fact that I am so strong in my faith, and I had to get this wide-eyed innocent approach to life,” she wrote in the passages that have been published by, the People. “When in 2002 he proposed, I said yes.”

Simpson said of Lachey was her first love and she was enchanted by the music. Their relationship was featured in her own reality TV show, “Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica,” which chronicled their personal lives, and fly them to the superstar status in the pop culture.

Even though the show, which ran from 2003 to 2005, Simpson said, and this time, she and Lachey have trouble to keep the pieces of their marriage to remain intact, and confessed that they felt that they would be doing their fans a disservice by pretending that everything was just perfect.

“I can’t lie to our fans and to give someone the hope that we will have the perfect golden couple,” she said. “We were young, and breaking our way through reality tv, is always in [mic, t] and for all the time.”

“We worked together and became very good at it, but when it came time for a while, and we weren’t very good at it any more,” Simpson explained. “We have been crushed to death by the media and by ourselves as well. I couldn’t lie to our fans, and I didn’t want to give anyone hope, and that we are the perfect golden couple.”

4. Weight and body issues

Simpson was reportedly asked to lose 15 lbs and at 17 years of age due to Tommy Mottola, former CEO and chairman of Sony Music Entertainment, and before they were signed, according to People.

Simpson, who alleged that Mottola insinuated to her that she needed to be thinner to make it in the industry, and other leaders, allegedly asked her to show more skin. Dawn said as she finally reached Mottola’s weight in front of goal, but he was so very, very hungry.”

Simpson said that when she was weighed in at 118 lbs and was 5-foot-3 at the time. Mottola’s request, led the singer to turn to a diet pills in order to drop to 103 pounds. She would continue to pop dieting pills for the next two years.”

Even at the age of 17, Simpson, ” she said, and she began to take sleeping pills in an attempt to make the voices in her head to stop tormenting her about her weight.

“I started hearing voices when I am alone in the night, waiting for the sleeping pill to kick in, Doing more sit-ups, fat a–,'” she wrote.

5. Oj Simpson’s sex life

Dawn tells us about her life, including her relationship with singer John Mayer.

In a 2010 interview with Playboy magazine, Mayer, now 42, called Simpson ” sexual napalm,” which they are not flattering.

“That’s what he thought it was what I wanted to be referred to as,” Simpson told People magazine. “I was floored, and embarrassed that my grandma was actually going to read them as well.”

She added: “as A woman, and how she is in bed, it is not something that is ever talked about. It was a shock.”

“He was the most loyal person on the planet, and as soon as I read that he didn’t, and that was it for me,” Simpson said. “I deleted his phone number. He made it easy for me to walk away.”

She apologized in 2017, telling The New York Times that the statement was “far out of touch.”

“I know that he has publicly apologized to, and I don’t want that for him,” Simpson said. “I think that a lot of this is about me, but he doesn’t know it’s a perspective that I have as a woman. It was Jess, in her 20’s.”
