Criminal defense attorney Phil Hamilton weighs in on the circumstances in which a defendant as the sexual abuser, Jeffrey Epstein’s death.
A hulking ex-cop, with a view of the death penalty on the federal murder and drug possession, was said to be Jeffrey Epstein’s cell mate in Manhattan, the Metropolitan Correctional Center, and an official said, Epstein was concerned, the former police officer, which stated that, after the disgraced financier’s apparent suicide attempt last month, and is taken from Epstein’s cell, shortly before the 66-year-old died early Saturday.
Nicholas Tartaglione, who had been a Briarcliffe Manor, a cop in Westchester County, new york, new york, was subject to tax in 2016, and with the deaths of the four men stemming from an alleged cocaine drug conspiracy. Epstein was said to be part of the MCC, a federal lockup, with the 51-year-old ex-cop who, after his July arrest for prostitution.

Tartaglione has been transferred from Epstein’s cell in the Special Housing Unit in a high-security section of the MMC, separating high profile inmates from the general population at a specified time before Epstein’s death, The Washington Post reported. It was not clear as to why Tartaglione was taken or wherever you are. The most recent convicts assigned to Epstein’s cell, was brought in on Friday, just hours before his death, but it was not immediately known if the prisoner had Tartaglione.
Several of the reports clearly shows the friction between Epstein and Tartaglione in the short period of time, the two men lived together.
A little more than two weeks before his death, Epstein was placed on suicide watch and required day-to-day psychiatric evaluation after being discovered in his cell, semi-conscious, with a bruise on the back of his neck. At the end of July, after a week of evaluation, Epstein was reported to have taken to suicide watch.

Although a suicide attempt was suspected of being the cause of the injury, and the resources at the time, told WNBC that the authorities had not ruled out an attack on Epstein, and the prisoner, who, as a Tartaglione was asked about the incident.
Epstein: the autopsy is complete, but the results have been withheld
Tartaglione, reportedly told officers that he didn’t see anything related to the apparent suicide attempt, and maintained he did not touch it, Epstein. Bruce Barket, a lawyer for the former policeman, said the two men were in the same unit, and it’s good to do that,” adding to rumors Tartaglione could have been attacked by Epstein, are “absolutely not true.”
“Any suggestion that Mr. Tartaglione is attacked, everyone is a complete fabrication,” Barket said in a statement, according to the Journal News. “This is a story, though, is to get back at Mr. Tartaglione to lodge a complaint with the court about the poor conditions at the MCC.”
Barket argued the charges against his client may have been leaked by a person who is trying to embarrass Epstein, and put the shadows on, Nick.”
In fact, a law enforcement source told the New York Daily News last month that Tartaglione stated that he helped Epstein when he found him unconscious in his cell during a reported attempt to commit suicide.
The source apparently confirmed to Barket’s allegations concerning the “appalling conditions” at the facility.

“You’ve got a guy who is a millionaire, living among the rats and the mold, and want to go home,” the source said. “This is an awful place and the people there, they treat you terribly. Who wouldn’t be suicidal in this kind of place? You will need to have a silver spoon in your mouth, and you’re a cat among the pigeons.”
Barket, not to dispute what Tartaglione has allegedly claimed. He told the Daily News his client is and Epstein: “it was more than a warm-hearted,” and even went so far as to say that the two are “friends.”
Nonetheless, Epstein, indeed, may have been trying to get away from Tartaglione, E. O. Young, the national president of the Council of Prison Locals C-33, told the Post.
Tartaglione, is awaiting trial after investigators say he was involved in the abduction and killing of four people by 2016. In February of 2018, as it is being held at the MCC, Tartaglione was attacked, ” the Journal-News reported.

By 2018, attack, Barket said Tartaglione needed reconstructive surgery after the eye socket bone had been broken. The attorney said at the time that, in the Special Housing unit of the MCC, which Epstein later became a well-established, Tartaglione, was “literally in a box, staring at the walls…Not surprisingly, his mental health has declined.”
Federal prosecutors reportedly plan to seek the death penalty against Tartaglione.

Epstein was to be held on child sex-trafficking and conspiracy charges after the July arrest. Prosecutors said that he was sexually abusing dozens of young girls in New York and Florida homes from 2002 to 2005. Epstein pleaded not guilty and it was up to 45 years in prison if convicted.
Well-known, high-profile and notorious inmates, as well as those who are accused of sex crimes against children are often seen as an additional layer of protection from attacks by other inmates. But it was not immediately clear what specific precautions, if any, are included in Epstein’s case.
