Jeans: Victoria Beckham and Sam Smith to be auctioned
The Dutch auction site Catawiki auction Friday jeans of various celebrities for charity. The trousers from Victoria Beckham, Nina Hagen, Olivia Newton-John, Sam Smith and Julio Iglesias go under the hammer.
The American artist Johny Dar conjured jeans of a hundred well-known movie stars, artists and models to a work of art. The proceeds of the auctioned trousers goes entirely to refugee organisation International Rescue Committee.
Dar conceived the action Jeans for Refugees, and paints each and every pair of jeans with the hand. “Victoria was one of the first who immediately said yes when she was asked to work on this project,” said Dar. Victoria’s pants have a classic style from the 70s and is also by her signed.
Auctioneer, Albert Goldenbeld of Catawiki shows that it is a special auction goes: “You not only on a by a celeb-worn pair of jeans, but also a beautiful work of art that you have framed on the wall, you can hang”. The auction runs for one hundred days and started in July.
