Closs was 13 years old on Oct. 15, 2018, when his parents, James, 56, and Denise, 46, were shot to death in their home in Barron, Wis., and she was arrested. A mysterious 911 call was made from the house, where the authorities have determined, Closs, at the time of the murder. After that, the trail went cold.

For months, investigators reviewed thousands of tips and followed up leads to try to find the girl. “I can tell you that Jayme is missing and endangered,” Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said at a news conference after she is gone.

On Jan. 10, 2019 at the latest, the Fitzgerald, said that the rumor was that Closs had been found within Walworth County, but he was quickly discredited as ” fake news.” Several hours later, however, Closs was discovered to have in your life.
The 13-year-old was found in Me, in a town about an hour north of Barron. She walked up to a stranger who was walking her dog, and cried for help. The woman knocked on the door of a house and told the couple there: “This is Jayme Closs! Call 911!”
The authorities are rapidly filling in the gaps in the timeline of the Closs of ‘ s disappearance. Jake Patterson, 21, held her hostage for months in a bed in a small cabin in the isolated town.

Was arrested and charged with his parents murder, and her child, Patterson told the court that he had succumbed to the fantasies of the love of a young girl and torment and control her. He was looking for an opportunity to abduct someone, and even to decide whether he can have multiple girls and killing several other families.
Closs was the first girl he met after these thoughts in his mind, he said. Patterson was back in May and was sentenced to life in prison.
In the court of law, Closs, read her public statements about her terrifying ordeal. Said Patterson, “and thought that he could give me his own, but he was wrong. I have had to get smarter.”

Closs added, “I was brave, and he was not, He thought, that he could make me like him, but he was wrong…and For the 88 days that he was trying to steal me, and he doesn’t care who he hurt or who he killed to do it. He should be locked up forever.”
At the half-mark of her parents ‘ horrific deaths, Closs, told ABC News she feels as though she is getting better and better as time goes on.

“I really want to thank you for all the kindness and concern that people all over the country have let me see it,” Closs said. “I am very happy to be home and get back to the activities that I enjoy. I love hanging out with my friends, and I feel stronger every day!”
In May, Closs was honored as a “hometown hero” by the Wisconsin Assembly, for her “strength, determination, and bravery,” and that Rep. Romaine Quinn, who Barron described as “beyond incredible.”
