Janel Parrish’s marriage with Chris Long was a bittersweet affair.
Taking to Instagram on Saturday, the “Pretty Little Liars” alum reveals that her father-in-law was killed in a drunk driving accident two weeks before the big day.
“A few weeks ago we received the terrible news that my father-in-law was tragically killed by a drunk driver on his beloved Sunday motorcycle ride,” the actress posted. “Words can’t explain the feeling of losing someone to something so meaningless… something that could have been prevented.”
Parrish, 29, posted a link to a Mothers Against Drunk Driving donation page in his or her profile, who stated that Herbert “Buck” Long was “killed instantly” on the morning of Sunday, August 26, after “an 18-year-old drunk driver ran into him head on.”
The driver is said to have fled the scene, but was later found by police hiding in a nearby ravine.” Long was 74 years old.
“If you are moved by his story, help donate to MADD to help ensured that this does not happen for anyone else,” Parrish wrote. “Love your Money.”
Parrish and Lang tied the knot in Hawaii on Sept. 8.
“It is not possible to love you more than I do,” Parrish gushed of her new husband.
The couple announced their engagement in October 2017.
