Italy investigates possible abuse of power by Google

The Italian competition authority has launched an investigation into possible abuse of power by Google, writes CNBC.

The authority claims that Google the app Enel X Recharge of the Italian developer Enel is not in the Android Auto app wanted to record. With the app, users can click a map to see what stations there are in the area.

Android Auto is the solution of Google to make a smartphone while driving, to use, without hindrance and distraction. The Italian authority, says that the exclusion of Enel X Recharge ensures that the app is less functional.

In a statement, reports the guardian that Google’s market position might be exploited. By this kind of apps to ban would more people make use of Google Maps, which also can indicate where the charging stations are.

The research will be available next year at the end of may completed.

High fines for Google

Google has already a few times, a high penalty due to abuse of power. In march of this year had the techbedrijf of the European Commission has yet to 1.49 billion euros to pay because of the hinder of competing advertisers.

In 2017 had to Google a fine of 2.4 billion euros to pay because it is his own product comparison voortrok in search results. In 2018, it turned out that Google had abused its dominant position with the Android operating system. The penalty before that came down to 4,34 billion euro.
