Irish coach O’neill and assistant Keane renew contract
Coach Martin O’neill and his assistant Roy Keane have made their new contract with the Irish football association finally signed.
“I have a new contract signed. That was never a theme,” said O’neill on Friday at a press conference in which he made his selection for the upcoming EK-kwalificatieduels with Georgia and Moldova, announced.
“Roy and the rest of the technical staff have to their obligation is also extended. We are all very happy.”
Just before the european CHAMPIONSHIPS last summer makes the Irish bond already known that an agreement had been reached with the coach and his assistant about a new contract until world cup 2018.
In the past three months were the commitments, however, never actually signed.
The 64-year-old O’neill, and the nineteen-year-younger Keane were in november of 2013, been appointed in Ireland.
The duo led the ‘The Boys in Green’ to the european CHAMPIONSHIPS in France. On the final tournament was Ireland in the eighth-finals eliminated by the French team.
The Northern Irishman O’neill was previously a trainer of Leicester City, Celtic, Aston Villa and Sunderland.
