The Iranian Foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has Monday evening (Dutch time) his departure, announced on Instagram.
Zarif offered apologies for “shortcomings” during his offered a ministerial appointment and for his dismissal. He has no further reason given for his sudden departure.
It is not yet clear whether his resignation is accepted by president Hassan Rouhani. BBC News writes that his dismissal has been confirmed by a spokesman of the ministry, according to the Iranian state news agency IRNA.
The minister played a big role during the negotiations on the atoomakkoord of 2015, where the United States in may 2018 they got out.
The American president Donald Trump took the deal to smooth and wanted more stringent agreements. European countries such as France and the United Kingdom have the agreement still kept afloat.
