Iranian actress to boycott Oscar ceremony because of Trump
The Iranian actress Taraneh Alidoosti is next month at the Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
They boycott the Oscars because the new American president Donald Trump stricter rules proposes to issue visas to people from muslim countries.
Trump is considering a temporary stop to the granting of visas to people from countries like Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, and Syria.
“Trumps visaverbod for Iranians is racist”, tweeted Alidoosti Thursday. “Whether this is also true for cultural events or not, I’m going to protest not to the ceremony of the Academy Awards.”
Alidoosti plays the lead role in The Salesman. The Iranian drama has been nominated in the category ‘Best foreign film’.
