The education Ministry confirmed on Friday that the authorities are investigating vandalism to a staff office.
“We can confirm there was an incident with an employee, the personal property on the third floor,” spokeswoman Angela Morabito said in a statement, adding that Secretary of education Betsy DeVos referred the matter to the Federal Protective Services (FPS) “for a comprehensive investigation.”

FPS spokesman Rob Sperling, said one of the employees personal items — “figures and images” – have been damaged around noon on Tuesday.
“No reported suspects at this time,” Sperling added. “No one was hurt and the staff was absent when the incident occurred.”
Earlier Friday, NBC News reported that the Department employees could be motivated to have been the incident to be racist. According to the story, “African art figures, decapitated, with their limbs removed, and a school was damaged in the abolition of racial segregation posters were found.” The report said the incident occurred at the department’s Office of Elementary and Secondary Education.
The NBC report added that the employee is an African-American woman, works to “diversity and inclusion training” to Department employees.
Comment neither the Department of Education or the Federal Protective Services, the nature of the damage, or give details about the affected employees. FPS said it was investigating the incident.

“Because this is an ongoing law enforcement matter, it is inappropriate for us to comment on any further details,” said Morabito, who added that DeVos has taken measures to promote the Integration in the Department.
“For your awareness of the variety of “change Agents” program of the Department of staff training involved in the program to a more inclusive workplace,” said she, “and Secretary DeVos has strengthened it since taking office to ensure a strong culture of inclusion in the Department.”
