International ballettop to the Netherlands
The National Ballet organises in Amsterdam from 10 to 12 February, Positioning Ballet, the first international balletconferentie.
Expected to be artistic directors of The Royal Ballet, the American Ballet Theatre, the Mariinsky Theatre, the San Francisco Ballet, the National Ballet of Canada and the English National Ballet and further, choreographers, dancers, and other balletdeskundigen.
According to director Ted Brandsen, The Dutch National Ballet, is the artistic premier league’.
“The huge audience that is reached, to assess the artistic performance of companies as such. This means that companies have a large responsibility to keep a critical attitude, to reflect on their own practice.”
There are three themes on the agenda: heritage, diversity and identity. It goes according to a spokesman for questions like, “What brings a ballet company on the stage and why? Why is The Sleeping Beauty every time back to life kissed? and “How is ballet more of a reflection of the colorful society as we know it now?”
Further bends the congress over the question: “How does the ballet company of the future?”
At the same time with the international balletconferentie brings The National Ballet is presenting a program with three world premieres and highlights from the recent balletrepertoire of the company.
