Interesting Facts You Probably Didn’t Know About Viagra

Viagra is one of the most popular prescription drugs on the market today, however, most people don’t know much about it, and what they do “know” is often wrong. Because there are so many generic Viagra scams out there, genuine Viagra usually get a pretty bad rep.

Following are a few facts you probably didn’t know about this often misunderstood erectile dysfunction drug.

Vitamin “V” Started As A Cure For “Heartache”

Sildenafil, the active component in Viagra, was originally being developed as a cure for angina and other cardiovascular diseases. However, it wasn’t all that effective. One of Sildenafil’s side-effects, however, seemed “promising”.

Some of the male test subjects were experiencing erections during the testing, including some who were previously suffering from erectile dysfunction. More research found that the same action that researchers were hoping would relax blood vessels and cure heart disease, was also relaxing the smooth muscles in the penis, which allowed for the increased blood flow that is necessary to facilitate an erection.

More funding was pumped into researching this revolutionary new application, and with a little more testing, Sildenafil was marketed as Viagra in March of 1998.

Viagra Is THE Most Counterfeited Drug In History

Generic medications are a big problem, for sure. But no one has a bigger problem with it than Pfizer does. Since there are so many men who want to try out Viagra, but who aren’t willing to pay full price, generic drug manufacturers get away with murder (literally!) when they produce fake versions of these pills.

There are thousands of fake drug manufacturers pumping out counterfeit versions of this highly sought after medication. And they usually don’t really give a bat shit about what they put in the pills either. Well… maybe some bat shit… or a whole load of it.

Confiscated shipments of counterfeit Viagra in New Zealand were shown to be mainly composed of bat and bird dung. How can these manufacturers get away with this?? – A recent article on the Viamedic health blog also exposed how many of the other “all natural” sexual enhancers were anything but.

This kind of disregard for pharmaceutical regulations (and a total lack of conscience!) has even resulted in a number of deaths. There was one incident in Singapore where a total of 150 men were hospitalized due to low levels of blood glucose brought on by one of the ingredients manufacturers of generic Viagra were putting in their pills to “stretch” them. 7 of these men went into a coma and 4 of them eventually died!

Viagra is “Eco-friendly”

With the terrible name generic Viagra companies give genuine Viagra, many people fail to realize how useful this medication is. It not only helps those with erectile issues to have a little fun once in a while, it ALSO helps save nature!

If you don’t believe this then just take a moment to think about it – Before Viagra came along, there was no REAL remedy for erectile dysfunction. Men who suffered from these types of issues had little hope that they would ever be able to enjoy a normal sexual experience again, and most of them didn’t have any hope.

This resulted in a lot of very desperate people who would do anything for a cure – including drinking powdered tiger testicle energy drinks. Yep, the only hope was traditionally remedies, most of which relied on using animal parts. Many species were nearly hunted to extinction because of their supposed medicinal properties.

Animals such as the elephant and rhino were hunted for their tusks and horns in an attempt transfer the animal’s power to the person’s… little hunter.

The rarer the animal, the more potent they were thought to be (which doesn’t make any sense, since that would mean these animals aren’t the most effective at reproducing and getting it on). This was a huge business before Viagra came along.

Now, with the introduction of effective ED remedies such as Viagra, Cialis, Levitra and Staxyn, the demand for animal testes has decreased greatly. There are some who still hold to the old traditional remedies, believing them to be more effective, but I personally think they just have an unhealthy taste for “tender bits”…..
