Intel sells majority McAfee to investment company
Intel sells its majority stake in Intel Security, formerly McAfee, to investment firm TPG.
TPG acquires majority stake of 51 percent in Intel Security, reports Reuters.
Allegedly is the name of the company changed again to McAfee. The remaining 49 per cent remains in the hands of chipgigant Intel.
According to TPG, is McAfee as a stand-alone company will be able to rapid changes in the sector for cyber-security to jump in. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2017 to be completed.
The transaction values McAfee at 4.2 billion dollars (3,77 billion euro). That means practically a halving of the value of McAfee compared to 2010, when Intel $ 7.7 billion (6,91 billion euros) for the security counted down.
