Instagram-leak bigger than thought
The vulnerability in Instagram that allows attackers the personal information of users could find out, is greater than was previously thought.
That shows from a message from Instagram on the blog.
Therein is mention of the bug that caused the leak. Initially sent Instagram just get a message to authenticated users, identified by a blue checkmark on their profile. The social network thought that only that group of users was hit. That turns out not to be the case.
Via the leak could see the phone number and/or e-mail address of an Instagram user, find out. According to Instagram, there are no passwords captured and goes to a “low percentage” of the total number of users. The company says it does not know which accounts exactly are affected.
“Millions of users”
Several American media outlets, including Ars Technica, report that the six million users. That claim hackers have a database of all leaked information is to be found.
The personal data of a user for a fee of ten dollars to see. It can first be checked whether the corresponding user in the database.
According to the hackers, the database contains data of many well known Instagram users, including politicians and athletes. Also singer and actress Selena Gomez would be affected by the leak. Her Instagram account was earlier in the week hacked and used to nude photos of Justin Bieber.
