Instagram and Snapchat fastest-growing social media in the Netherlands
The social networks Instagram and Snapchat saw their Dutch number of users in 2016, the fastest rise. The number of daily users of both apps went with at least 50 percent compared to a year earlier.
That turns out on Monday, and the annual socialmedia research of Newcom, held among over eight thousand people in the netherlands.
Instagram grew from 992.000 to 1.5 million daily users. In total, the Facebook-daughter 3.2 million Dutch users, enough to Twitter (2.6 million) of the fifth to push.
Chat-app WhatsApp, also owned by Facebook, has 10.9 million users (7.8 million daily) and is the largest social network. Then follows Facebook itself, with 10.4 million users. The site also has the largest percentage of daily users (72 percent, a total of 7.5 million).
LinkedIn has 4.3 million users, but the number of daily users is a lot lower: that there are only 400.000. Video site YouTube has 7.5 million users, of which 1.7 million are on a daily basis.

Snapchat is the most notable riser, with 1.9 million users, of which half (960.000) daily. Last year the app is still 541.000 daily users.
The research shows that two-thirds of the young people between 15 and 19 years old use Snapchat. That is the case with a quarter of the people between 20 and 39 years. 40-year olds use Snapchat almost not.
Facebook is in the last year especially has become increasingly popular among the elderly. Under aged over 80 years increased the gebruikersaandeel from 46 percent to 61 percent.
