Although the construction by ex-mayor Boris Johnson of the Conservative y was embraced, wants current mayor Sadiq Khan (Labour) no further financial guarantees to give more to the project.

The total cost of the construction of the bridge were about 220 million euros budgeted. Until now, London has 40 million contributed to it.
