Initiators ‘tuinbrug’ across river Thames in London strike project

The people behind a plan to a very expensive and controversial ‘tuinbrug’ in London on the river Thames, have Monday the project is cancelled, report British media.
The initiators, which are already 77 million euros privégeld had collected for the construction of a bridge with trees, grass and other vegetation, have their loss acknowledged.
Against the plan was because of the cost to the taxpayer, a lot of resistance in the British capital.
Although the construction by ex-mayor Boris Johnson of the Conservative y was embraced, wants current mayor Sadiq Khan (Labour) no further financial guarantees to give more to the project.
The total cost of the construction of the bridge were about 220 million euros budgeted. Until now, London has 40 million contributed to it.
The initiators spoke Monday of “a missed opportunity to make a statement to the world about British progress and innovation in a green city.”
