PRAGUE (reuters) – The Czech Republic, and the establishment of an auction of a 5G next-generation mobile network frequencies from January through mid-2020, and to broaden the participation, the industry minister said on Tuesday.
The country plans to attract a new operator and increase competition in a market where the prices are high, and have been a long-standing problem of the clients and their parents.
CTK news agency quoted industry minister Karel Havlicek as it is to say that the reason for the delay was to change a number of terms and conditions, to the largest number of participants in the planned auction of frequencies in the 700 MHz and 3.5 GHz frequency bands.
“As has been discussed for a number of years, it is not the most important thing, or will it be in January or in May,” Havlicek told CTK, adding that the candidate with the fourth operator will have to “crash” because of the competitive landscape.
O2 Czech Republic from Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile and Vodafone are the country’s existing operators.
