Numerous 2020 Democratic presidential hopefuls in Florida this week for the first series of debates took a detour to stop at the country’s largest child detention centre migrant – turn the privately run facility outside of Miami in a symbol of what they say is the trump administration’s harsh criticism of young migrants.

The administration argues that the Democrats in Congress have the responsibility and has to hike criticised for the slow-urgently-needed financing. “The United States should not young people arrested, which went from 1,000 miles or more to save your life,” Sanders, on the debate stage Thursday night, said in front of the plant. “All I can say is that in the United States of America, most of us don’t want to lock up thousands of children, especially if these children have relatives who want you in.”


Immigration and the treatment of young migrants has become an urgent matter in the country after the drowning at the beginning of this week, a Salvadoran man and his toddler daughter, caught by a journalist in a scorching photos and reports about the unsanitary conditions and poor conditions in certain prisons.

Health and Human Services spokeswoman Evelyn Stauffer, said in an E-Mail that the members of the Congress are welcome to visit the plant, but that there are at least two weeks in advance, a policy which she said had been in place since 2015.

In addition to the Democratic candidates, the protesters are a regular presence outside of the facility had. “Those looking for something different, the creation of a claim deliberately a false and misleading description, in order to mislead the public and score political points,” the company said.

A motion filed last month in Federal court included dozens of testimonials from children who complain, they cry because they miss their families and are only allowed to make phone calls is limited.
