Ilse Delange liked the interviews she did with the guests in her new program Ilse’s Porch exciting to do.
In the AVROTROS program, of which the first episode Thursday at 21.20 hours on NPO 1, the singer together with a Dutch artist on a journey through Nashville, on the basis of a countrynummer, the deep impression made on him or her.
Although the program is largely about music, there are also many personal conversations along. “That were often conversations about life, about intimate topics,” says DeLange to NU.nl.
“That was exciting, because I most of the guests don’t really know, I had with most of them only a, as I call it, ‘wandelgangenvriendschap'”, she laughs. “Then you’re suddenly there at the kitchen table or on the porch and you have it about their childhood,” says the singer.
Nashville has a special place in the heart of DeLange, who, in 1998, her debut album World of Hurt recorded in the American countrystad. “Since then, I have good friends and I perform there sometimes with The Common Linnets,” she says.
The singer definitely has ambition to be in America more foot on the ground. “But I’m just a very realistic person, I am very happy with how my life is now. But imagine that it would ever succeed in that, then that, of course, the icing on the cake that I already have,” says DeLange.
The singer is curious to see what viewers of her new program. “Of course I will also go for a scroll on social media, that I can’t let. I believe people also never say that they never watch,” DeLange.
“It is important what the public thinks and I will be flattered with the positive responses. And the negative reactions? Ah, yes, finally you don’t have anything to read. You can’t keep everyone happy, right? You are who you are!”
