A police officer in Illinois was shot and killed while responding to a call for assistance in a rural community, on Tuesday, according to officials.
Illinois State Police said in a news release that 39-year-old Fulton County Sheriff’s Deputy Troy Chisum, had responded to a battery, and a distortion of the call, at around 2 o’clock in Avon, located about 45 km north-west from Peoria.
In response to the scene, the officers said that several shots were fired,” and Chisum was shot and killed.
“On behalf of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Deputy Chisum,” Fulton County Sheriff Jeff Standard said in a statement. “The Vice-Chisum dedicated his life to the service of the community. His legacy and sacrifice will always be remembered.”

Chisum was a four-and-a-half-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, and it, too, was a paramedic with the Fulton County EMA. He was also a member of the West Central Special Response Team, and ILEAS WMD/SRT Team, Region 6, according to police.

The suspected gunman was barricaded in a home in a rural community, and it drew the response from several police departments to help with the current situation.”
The police said that the suspect remained barricaded Tuesday night. The agency is not free, additional information on the following Wednesday morning.

The story was a massive response from law enforcement, including officers of the U. s. Marshals in addition to drone helicopter, attendance, WEEK-TV reported.
A large procession of law enforcement traveled to Avon to ADD Approx. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill. on Tuesday night, when Chisum’s body was transported there after the shootings.

The Illinois officer, is the fourth member of law enforcement shot and killed in the line of duty over the past few weeks. As of the end of June, 60 officers have died in the line of duty by 2019, with the reasons ranging from being hit by a vehicle suffered a medical emergency, according to data from the Officer Down Memorial Page.
