Illinois ex-congressional candidate charged with DUI, hitting officer

The former democratic congressional candidate Mark Wicklund on April 18, crashed allegedly in his car while driving under the influence and hitting a police officer in the hospital after that.

Wicklund, who was accused with driving under the influence and a provisional charge of a heavy battery against a police officer in Macon County, Illinois, Herald & Review reported last week.

The former candidate was on the Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Ill. after he his car was in an accident, with a Golf course. An affidavit by a patrol officer detailed the incident in the hospital.


“Mark cussing was screaming and swearing in the direction of the officers and medical staff,” the officer said.

The officer also said that Wicklund was “heavily intoxicated, with bloodshot, glassy eyes.”
