“That surprised me. I was already clear about it”, says Molendijk in conversation with The Telegraph. Along with Jamai, Martijn Krabbé and Eva Simons makes the music producer a selection of singers where the public later on can vote.
This see a member of the jury therefore is still tougher and different to the participants. “There is this season a number of new elements. Inspired by: ‘we know that your singing is good, but can you also sell?’ If you look at the charts or artists with a long career, are not necessarily those who are best able to sing.”
Nina won the season of 2016, but said in december that they the profit rather someone else had to see. “I’m not made for pop music and the hits. I try to write songs. I want not only the voice, but also tell my story. I’m not the idol. Not the standaardplaatje. But I find it cool that I still have won. Everyone can be an idol, as you people but hits.”
Molendijk wants that after the coming season, it is clear that you are very much in the house to become “the new idol” of the Netherlands. “If you join the league you get so many tools: a zangcoach, songs, if necessary styling. You go through the car wash. Henceforth, the following applies: if your Idols have survived if I were in the jury, there is something good. I don’t want to look back: ‘it was nice’.”
