iCloud hit deleted browser history for months
The Russian forensics firm Elcomsoft has deleted browsing history in months ago managed to recover from the cloudopslagdienst of Apple, iCloud.
Those files were marked as ‘deleted’, but were in to see. That writes Forbes Thursday afternoon. The data include names and website urls are removed.
Also the data that a smartphone leaves is found in the data. However, the site names are encrypted since the recent released updates for iOS, the mobile operating system from Apple.
Apple solves the problem
Elcomsoft has not let you know how the company is successful, the data to find out. Apple has quickly responded and the problem has been solved. Now all data that is older than two weeks are automatically deleted.
Although the forensics team is happy with the change, it is still curious to the cause of the error. “We are still waiting for an explanation”, writes the team in a private, updated blog post.
Normally it is so that when users delete history from a Mac, the data is also deleted on iPhones and iPads that are linked to the same iCloud account. Elcomsoft, however, data that dates back to november 2015, which should mean that there is a mistake somewhere in the system.
The data seems not to be accessible for the police.
