IAAF maintains suspension of Russian association of athletics
The suspension of the Russian association of athletics remains in force. The Russians make, although steps in the approach of their anti-doping, but according to the international athletics federation IAAF does not yet meet all requirements.
That made the IAAF Monday known after a board meeting in London, where Friday the world cup started.
The IAAF decided to Russia in november 2015 to suspend due to years of systematic dopingpraktijken. Athletes from the country have since then not welcome at international tournaments. The Russians were missing, thus the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Nevertheless, more and more athletes from Russia, consent to, under a neutral flag to take part in the international tournaments. They need to be able to demonstrate good to be tested for doping. Expected to do nineteen Russian athletes under a neutral flag in the world.
An independent commission under the leadership of the Norwegian sport Rune Andersen keeps the developments in Russia closely. According to Andersen, the Russians have steps made, but not enough to get the suspension to lift. Run the antidopingbureau Rusada still not enough tests.
“In the past, were more than 18,000 dopingtests per year, now only a few thousand”, said Andersen. Also working there are still coaches in the Russian athletics that because dopingpraktijken a lifetime suspension.
