HONOLULU – The National Weather Service has a hurricane watch for parts of Hawaii.
Senior Honolulu forecaster Tom Birchard says the watch for the Hurricane Lane has been issued for the island of Hawaii and Maui County, including the island of Maui and other smaller islands.
Hurricane conditions could reach areas within 48 hours. He says that it’s possible Oahu and Kaui eventually be included in a watch.
The hurricane is a category 4 with winds up to 150 mph (241 km / h).
It is the move of the west, but is expected in the direction of the northwest in the direction of the state.
Birchard says Hawaii residents can be hit with heavy rain, flooding and high waves, even if the centre were not reaching the islands.
Birchard says that the inhabitants probably will be Tuesday and Wednesday to prepare.
