Hurricane Florence evacuees could seek refuge at some NASCAR race circuits: reports

Hurricane Florence evacuees can seek shelter at the NASCAR speedways.

NASCAR fans flight for the Hurricane Florence may find themselves camping at some known locations.

Both Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia, and Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, have announced the available space on their sites, SportingNews reports.

“Attention Hurricane Florence Evacuees! We open our Premiere and Legends of the campsites to those who need refuge! Dry camping is FREE and full hookup sites cost $20, – per night,” Atlanta Motor Speedway, tweeted Tuesday.

The track will be offered and more information about the facilities in a press release.

“Located next to the campsite, AMS will also have The Rinnai Shower Station, camper, bath house, so that evacuees free access to hot showers and toilet facilities during their stay,” he said.

On Twitter, the circuit said that a stay there also.

Atlanta Motor Speedway also responded to a Twitter user who asked about the safety of the campgrounds.

They are for sure! During the day the track is fully operational and fully staffed, problems or questions can be addressed immediately. We have the security that will be present during each night keeping an eye on things.

Charlotte Motor Speedway also addressed plans to the evacuees.

The site shared in a press release that the Rock City Campground is open on a Tuesday afternoon “for the refugees to the west or inland of the Hurricane Florence.”

Charlotte Motor Speedway added, “With severe weather in the forecast for other southeastern states, with accommodations available for as long as possible prior to potential landfall. Refugees have access to spa facilities on speedway property.”

The track is executive vice president, Greg Walter, on Wednesday tweeted several photos of trucks set.
