HTC opens own studio for virtual reality games and apps
Electronics manufacturer HTC to open a private studio for virtual reality games and apps. The studio is called Vive Studios and will games and apps release from HTC and third-party developers.
That, HTC has announced. Vive Studios is the internal developer of the company. It is similar to Oculus Studios is the internal developer of competitor Oculus, which is led by ex-Naughty Dog founder Jason Rubin. However, Vive Studios will be more than Oculus Studios.
The studio will be in addition to games and apps, also other experiences will be producing and publishing. That could have to do with education, design, sports, and more. Oculus still has a separate studio set up for narrative experiences, called Oculus Story Studio.
Vive Studios will mainly be used for business purposes and for productions in the arcadehallen where people with the HTC Vive play.
The first title that Vive Studios unveiled, is Arcade Saga. This is a large collection of mini-games that players 84 levels offered, as well as a rich story. Players take the role of a processor with a power of perception, that lobbies against artificially intelligent guards of a computer scientist.
Arcade Saga is available from the 10th of december via Steam and Viveport, the own digital store from HTC for the HTC Vive.
