Children all over the world are excited in anticipation of Santa’s arrival tonight, but did you know how you can keep track of his journey?

Here is how you can follow the man in the red path on christmas Eve…

How can I keep track Santa with NORAD?

The NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) is offering a way for children to follow Santa in his sleigh since 1955.

Today, it provides users with a precise GPS location of Santa’s position – through a fun, interactive tool on the website.

But the tradition was started by accident, when a local advertisement inviting children to call Santa accidentally misprinted the number.

The number called they put them through to NORAD’s Commander-in-Chief operations hotline.

Colonel Harry Shoup, who was later affectionately known as ” Santa Colonel, answered the first of these conversations.

He gamely asked his staff to check whether there is any indication of father christmas’ movements on the radar.

A spokesman explained: “yes, there were signs of Santa and children who called in an update on Santa’s position. So, the tradition was born.”

Hundreds of military and civilian volunteers at NORAD are estimated to be more than 100,000 calls this year during christmas Eve, from children from all over the world eager to hear about Santa’s progress.

Colonel Shoup, the employees were instructed to continue to give information of Santa’s movements in future conversations.

The NORAD tracker is also available via the Apple, Android and Windows phone app stores.

How can I track santa Claus with Google?

Google also runs its own Santa tracker, which was founded in 2005.

The search engine is Santa’s village is opened on the 1st of December – offering of festive games and fun.

It is set up in the form of an advent calendar, with a new game or experience is revealed every day until Christmas.

You can check Google’s tracker on this website, or the download on the Android app and for Android TV – but it is not available in the iOS app store.

How long is it until Santa starts his journey?

Santa’s sleigh will depart in the morning of 24 December – if it’s already later, on christmas Eve in some countries.

Until then, both sites offer a Santa tracker countdown.

There are also a whole host of festive games, movies, interactive lessons and music to children and adults entertained.

While your kids can follow Santa’s progress throughout christmas Eve – but make sure they are tucked in bed before he comes down the chimney.
