Although hair loss is a lot more common in men, women are equally troubled by this problem. Hair loss in women is increasing at an alarming rate and women are always on the lookout for ways to prevent hair loss. There are many factors like nutritional deficiency, stress and alterations in hormonal balance that can lead to hair loss in women. Try and avoid using a curling iron or hairdryers because they can weaken the roots and cause hair loss.

Use hair care products that are mild and contain lesser chemicals. Use products that contain more organic ingredients.

If you live a stressful lifestyle, try and calm yourself because stress is amongst the reasons for hair fall too.

Avoid excessive alcohol consumption and / or tobacco as they can lead to hair fall.

In case you use products like hair color, only use it with a gap of minimum eight weeks after each session because you may experience a reduction in hair growth.

It is advisable to avoid excessive use of shampoo as this could also lead to hair loss.

Diet also plays an important role in stopping hair loss. Hair is made of protein, therefore including more protein into your diet will help stop hair fall. You should also include diary products or take calcium supplements in order to strengthen the hair roots and follicles. Increase the intake of eggs, green vegetables, carrots, soybeans, fish, spinach, tomatoes, yogurt, almonds and other foods rich in calcium and vitamins. Increase your intake of folic acid and zinc as they are vital for healthy hair growth.

Keeping awake for too long and lack of sleep is also one of the reasons for hair fall. Get yourself enough sleep and avoid irregular sleeping patterns that can lead to hair loss.

Hair loss is also caused due to harsh shampoos, conditioners as well as stylizing products. It is advisable to visit a dermatologist in case you experience hair loss due to such products.

Try and be gentle while drying your hair. Vigorous drying can cause hair breakage in both women and men.

Drinking sufficient water can also help stop hair loss. Lack of water can make the hair dry and prone to hair loss. Therefore, drink at least 8-10 glasses of water each day.
