2014 — Hackers are back in Yahoo’s database and stole the names, e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, birthdays, passwords, and security questions and answers from the 500 million of users and accounts.

Millions of Americans have filed claims to receive $125, offered by Equifax, as part of a $425 million settlement with the u.s. Federal Trade Commission over a massive data breach in march of 2017. Consumers stampeded to claim their $125, not knowing that there was a $31 million cap on cash advances.

The pool of money is quickly dropped, and the consumer will have to make do with just a few dollars or opt for a free of charge credit monitoring. The same thing could happen to Yahoo.
