Mile Svilar was the future number one of Sporting Anderlecht, but a year and a half ago, a clash between the young goalie and the Anderlechtbestuur for an abrupt departure in the direction of Benfica. Sport/Voetbalmagazine reconstructs what was lost.
It is a horrible story with an outcome that no one wanted to, one of the greatest indignities of the career of Herman Van leuven luc van wassenhoven. ‘Everything we have done for the guy, but the problem is that he is to no one listened,” says former athletic director. “He was on the point of the number two of René Weiler, so he has no doubt the cup would have played. He, however, wanted at any cost number one, while Weiler found that he was not yet ready. The problem with Svilar is that he is too early on a piëdestal was.”
Not everyone in Neerpede is agree with that analysis. “The club had to have to do more for Svilar,” says Mohamed Ouahbi, the trainer under whom Svilar in 2015 his first Youth League played, and the semi-finals reached after a win against Arsenal, Dortmund, Barcelona and Porto. “No one could say with certainty or Mile was finished, but they had not any responsibility in Weiler will have to make.’
No gift of Weiler
From good source is to hear that the disagreement between Svilar and Anderlecht began in may of 2017, in the week after the national championship. After they on Thursday, champion were in Charleroi, left the players for one last match against Oostende on Sunday before taking them on vacation were allowed to leave. The ideal opportunity to see the work of certain young people, such as Svilar, reward. René Weiler, however, there was the man not to have gifts to share. Also in that latter match followed the Swiss of his own logic, and he introduced players like Diego Capel, Nicolae Stanciu and Massimo Bruno. He put Rubén Martínez under the bar, that no option borrowed was of Deportivo La Coruña and so right afterwards, it would leave. Owner Frank Boeckx was sitting on the couch, Mile Svilar in the tribune.
“I have that week at Max de Jong (coach, ed) and Nicolás Frutos urged Svilar to play, but Weiler had no ears to,” says Patrick Verheyden, since twelve years responsible for the jeugdkeepers at Anderlecht. ‘Weiler has Svilar broken, but no one has done anything to him that to prevent. There is a collective responsibility for this failure.’
