HOUSTON – Houston 18-year-old has been arrested and accused of the illegal dissemination of explosive information and try to support the Islamic State organization.
The U.S. Department of Justice said Monday that Kaan Sercan Damlarkaya, a U.S. citizen, was arrested on Dec. 8 after an undercover FBI operation. A statement says Damlarkaya said that he intended to travel abroad and fight for IS, and said that he tried to go to Syria twice. He told the agents that he would commit an AMERICAN attack if attempts to travel abroad is failed.
It also says Damlarkaya provided to the so-called supporters IS a formula for explosive Triacetone Triperoxide, and instructions on how to use it in a pressure cooker device with shrapnel.
If convicted, he faces a possible 20-year maximum prison term. The U.S. has designated as a terrorist organization.
