Host Ivo Niehe wants to continue as a playwright
Host Ivo Niehe wants to continue in the theatre world and is planning a piece of writing.
“I’ve also got an idea for,” says the presenter to the Volkskrant. “Because if it’s simpler than this, if you just have a story to tell about two people who have what each other want in life, than I can now I think only.”
Niehe makes his debut in the coming theater season with Drs. Down, about a boy with Down’s syndrome who is admitted to a portly, regular high school.
He wrote the script of the show after his interview with Pablo Pineda Ferrer. The now 42-year-old Pablo is probably the only one in the world with Down syndrome, who has managed a university study to complete.
After Niehe the first version of the script had completed, he had help from the experienced playwright Dick van den Heuvel. “There is a lot mixed up with the order, and Dick has some scenes added. He said that the characters more profile had to get,” said the presenter. “I was never thought of.”
Drs. Down went last week premiered at the DeLaMar Theater in Amsterdam. In the coming months, following a nationwide tour of the major theatres.
