Crystal Palace’s manager, Roy Hodgson, calls to the busy schedule of the team around the holiday season, “tough and hard”. The 72-year-old manager calling for a more equitable distribution of the days.
Palace will be playing during the week between Christmas and New year’s, but no less than three games. On Thursday (day after Christmas) will be awarded to the team of West Ham United, then the team, two days later, on a visit to Southampton. On new year’s day, the away game against Norwich City, is on the program.
While playing on the Second day of Christmas, and Nieuwsjaarsdag is a tradition in English football, it is against san marino, that’s the schedule now is quite heavy. “I enjoy the training but not in matches. It’s hard to play at this level, with only one day’s rest in between matches. It is very heavy,” said the experienced manager, at his press conference.
“Right now, there’s too much to ask. Especially for the players, as well as for the staff, and of all the races involved. It is dangerous, as the risk of injury is huge. It has had a huge impact on the rest of the season.”
Hodgson must go through injuries, especially the seven players to miss out on, and worried that in the hospital the next day, still fills up. “Our budget is already small. With such a busy period in the schedule will not make anyone stay in shape. That is, we can’t handle.”
The Crystal Palace is thirteenth in the Premier League, which is where the rest of the middle class are close to each other. The difference between the number in five of Sheffield United, and song, and seventeen of Southampton is four points.
