Hockeysters conquer ninth European title with victory in Belgium
The Dutch hockeysters have Saturday for the ninth time the European title conquered. Orange was in the thirteenth edition of the european CHAMPIONSHIPS in the final in the packed Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen with 3-0 too strong for a tough Belgium.
Carlien Dirkse van den Heuvel, with her 30 years of one of the veterans at the strong shouldered Oranjevrouwen, made at the end of the first quarter of the 1-0. At the beginning of the last quarter decided Kelly Jonker, also an experienced player, the duel: 2-0. The 3-0 Ireen van den Assem made the party complete.
The team of coach Alyson Annan had in the group stage with 1-0 won over Belgium, Saturday, for the first time in a european CHAMPIONSHIP final was.
The Dutch hockeysters picked up earlier in 1984, 1987, 1995, 1999, 2003, 2005, 2009 and 2011 european CHAMPIONSHIPS-gold. Two years ago, went into the final in London after shoot-outs lost against England.
The English women, who in the semi-finals with 1-0 lost of Orange, conquered earlier on Saturday, bronze in Amstelveen. The olympic champion defeated Germany in the battle for place three with 2-0 by goals from Hannah Martin and Alex Danson.

The netherlands was in your own country, the big favorite for the final against the Belgian women, but the team of Annan had just as in the group stage long difficult against the solid south.
Orange was already pretty fast on edge. After Aisling D’hooghe still saved on shots of Dirkse van den Heuvel and Xan de Waard, was the Belgian keepster in the twelfth minute without chance at a tip-in of Dirkse van den Heuvel after a bouncing cross from the right by Kitty van Male, her one hundredth international game played.
