Hockey players start european CHAMPIONSHIPS with a convincing victory in Spain
The Dutch hockey players have Saturday night convincingly in the first match at the european CHAMPIONSHIPS won. The team of coach Max Caldas was in Amstelveen much too strong for Spain: 7-1.
The netherlands came at the end of the second quarter to lead against the Spaniards thanks to a brilliant penalty corner from Seve van Ass. Just then enlarged Valentin Verga the lead to two.
Mink van der Weerden made in the last thirty seconds of the second quarter even before the 3-0. For Van der Weerden was that hit off a penalty corner with his 82nd goal in the service of Orange.
Mirco Pruyser made in the third quarter for a 4-0 lead, then Spain via a counter, the eretreffer today. Goals of Verga and Bob the Guardian, (two) determined the final standings at 7-1 in the Wagener Stadium.

The netherlands continues the group stage Monday with a match against Belgium and will play Wednesday against Austria. The numbers one and two in the group qualify for the semi-finals.
Pool B is formed by Germany, Ireland, England and Poland.
