LANSING, Michigan. – A high-ranking Michigan State University official was arrested in an investigation into the handling of complaints against now-imprisoned former sports doctor Larry Nassar.
Ingham County Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth told The Associated Press that William Strampel was in pre-trial detention in the prison Monday night. He refused to say what the cost Strampel is facing, because the probe is being led by the attorney-general’s office.
A spokeswoman for Attorney General Bill Schuette declined to comment, but a press conference is scheduled for Tuesday. Strampel, who was the dean of the College of Holistic Medicine, until he announced a absence for medical reasons in December, told the police last year that he never has followed after the order of Nassar, a third person is present during certain treatments.
