Heemskerk and Neumann beaches in semifinals 200-meter free at the world CHAMPIONSHIPS

Femke Heemskerk and Robin Neumann are there on Tuesday failed to qualify for the final of the 200 metres freestyle at the world swimming CHAMPIONSHIPS. For both Dutch were the semi-finals of the terminus in Budapest.

The 29-year-old Heemskerk hurried in her semi-final to a time of 1.56,50. That was just not enough for a place in the final, which is Wednesday on the program in the Hungarian capital.

She came out as number nine, just sixteen hundredths of a second deficit for a place in the fastest eight swimmers in the two semifinals.

“Bummer, but I made this race great swim”, responded to Heemskerk at the NOS. “I did very well on the plan held. A year ago I was all fucked up, so I have no sense to me here to be unhappy about to feel. I did quite like the final like to swim, because I there I think so be ready. But unfortunately, the ninth.”

Earlier on Tuesday tapped Heemskerk, the holder of the Dutch record (1.54,68), in the seventh time in the series: 1.57,06. Sunday conquered the Roelofarendsveense with the estafetteploeg won the bronze on the 4×100 meters free battle.


Neumann tapped in her semi-final in eighth and last. Her time of 1.58,80 was the worst of all the sixteen semi-finalists.

The only 19-year-old world CHAMPIONSHIP debutante had earlier on Tuesday, a time of 1.58,66 noted in the series. Therefore if they as sixteenth and last to the semi-finals.

Katie Ledecky was all-powerful in the semi-finals. The multiple world champion from the United States klokte 1.54,69 and starts Wednesday as the favourite in the final of the 200 meters free.

Earlier on Tuesday, the still only 20-year-old Ledecky is already a record with her twelfth world title. They won with force majeure in the 1500 metres freestyle (15.31,82) and is now the most successful world cup swimmer ever call.

Ledecky was two days earlier for the record of compatriot Missy Franklin, who is eleven world titles to her name. On the opening day of the world CHAMPIONSHIPS in the Hungarian capital won Ledecky in the 400 free and leading them to the American estafetteploeg to gold in the 4×100 free.

World records

Adam Peaty sharpness for the second time in one day, the world record in the 50 metres breaststroke. The 22-year-old Brit plunged into the semi-finals as the first swimmer under the limit of 26 seconds and set the new world record on 25,95.
