Heart patients can benefit from programs for leefstijlverandering
Assistance to heart patients can easily be improved by motivating them to participate in existing programs for leefstijlveranderingen. It comes to programs for healthy eating, stop smoking, exercise more and lose weight.
That, writes NRC Tuesday following an investigation of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
At this time, according to the researchers, there is a big difference between the richtlijnaanbevelingen and daily practice. Many people would still find it difficult to their leefstijlgewoonten to adjust on the basis of the standard recommendations.
The existing change programs would have something to add. It is a waste – and healthy-etenprogramma of Weightwatchers, online beweegstimuleringsprogramma DirectLife from Philips, and stop-smoking program Luchtsignaal.
Weight and blood pressure
The patients who have one of these programs had participated became more lose weight and also decreased their blood pressure. There were also differences regarding smoking cessation and exercise more, but this was less clear.
In the study, which was performed in 15 Dutch hospitals, were 800 people. Half of them was encouraged to participate in one of the programs.
