Maryland Rep. Elijah E. Cummings died of complications from longstanding health problems at the age of 68 years.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., On the left, was in tears Thursday by the death of the House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings, D-Md.

“He is now with the angels, out of pain,” Pelosi said before the house of representatives observed a moment of silence. “… I didn’t know that it [his death] was this close. I he thought back comes.”

“No matter how rough and tumble it would add to the things he [Cummings] would be calm water,” the speaker is. “… I am personally devastated by his death.”

Cummings’ office said in a brief statement that he was early Thursday died “due to complications, long-standing challenges in the health sector.” Cummings had been in ill health the last few years, the Navigation in the Capitol in a motorized cart and a walker. He was 68.

Cummings had hoped, the return to the Congress within a period of about a week, after a medical procedure, for he did not offer details. He had previously been treated for heart and knee problems.

“We are losing a wonderful person … we all in this house have lost a valued colleague … it was a painful shock to all who served with him,” added House majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md.

Cummings’ Committee to investigate the authority of virtually every part of the Federal government, is one of the three, the implementation of the house impeachment probe of trump. “I was devastated,” Cummings told The Associated Press in 1996, shortly before he won his seat in Congress. “My whole life changed. I was very determined.”

Hoyer also called Cummings “prophet of God”, “was faithful to his name.”
