Hassan improves fourteen-year-old Dutch record at 5000 meters
Sifan Hassan Saturday at the Diamond League American Eugene a fourteen-year-old Dutch record on the 5000 meters improved.
The 24-year-old Hassan posted a time of 14.41,24. Thus, she was less than fifteen seconds faster than Lornah Kiplagat, who in 2003 a Dutch record dropped.
The time of Hassan was not enough for a first place. The Ethiopian Genzebe Dibaba prevailed in 14.25,22. Lilian Kasait Rengeruk from Kenya was second (14.36,80), a few seconds for Hassan.
Dafne Schippers is Saturday night for the first time in action in Eugene. The 24-year-old sprinter runs the 200 meter, just as, among others, olympic champion, Elaine Thompson.
Hassan, who in 2014 european CHAMPIONSHIPS-silver captured at the 5000 metres, insured at the beginning of may all of a ticket at that distance at the world CHAMPIONSHIPS in athletics. The world championships are from 4 to 13 August in London.
Hassan does on 11 June at the FBK Games in Hengelo, where she is in action in the 1500 metres.
