“I would like something special to show for my Dutch fans and therefore, another time a European record,” says the 26-year-old Hassan Tuesday. “And that I would in Hengelo try. It would be great to put together something special to celebrate.”
The Dutch athlete ran in July last year at a Diamond League match in the Moroccan city of Rabat with a time of 14.22,34 on the 5 kilometres, which they the ten-year-old European record of the Russian Liliya Shobukhova improved.
Hassan, who move towards the world CHAMPIONSHIPS this year in Qatar, and the Olympic Games next year in Tokyo focusing on the 5 and 10 km on the track, ran last month a world record in the 5,000 meters on the road, a part that is not very often on the program.
Hassan had the FBK Games last year skip because of a knee injury. In 2017 she won the 1,500 meters in a track record in Hengelo.
The 38th edition of the FBK Games on Sunday 9 June.
