Harriët van Reek wins Golden Brush, 2017
The picture book Lettersoep illustrator and author Harriët van Reek is Wednesday awarded the Golden Brush. That is the prize for the best illustrated children’s book of the past year.
“Lettersoep is a unique book that transcends all traditions. What a pleasure to have you with smooth jumps between concrete and abstract concepts back and forth can be present. Who with it can go, look at life differently”
according to the jury report. The Golden Brush since 1973 and is awarded annually. The Golden Palette, the prize for the best illustrated children’s book of foreign origin, is assigned to ‘The hole’ by the Norwegian illustrator Øyvind Torseter.
The awards were Wednesday night awarded in the Teekenschool of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The award ceremony was also the opening of the exhibition Brushes in the Rijksmuseum, which until the 19th of February free to visit is in the Teekenschool.
