Hany Abu-Regime The Idol to Oscars
The Idol of the Palestinian-Dutch director Hany Abu-Assad, is the Palestinian entry for the Oscars.
That is Wednesday, published reports Deadline.
Abu-Assad (54) is this year the third Dutch director who chance to win an Oscar for best foreign production. The netherlands sends Tonio by Paula van der Oest, France chose Elle by Paul Verhoeven. It is known to be the first time that the three Dutch directors at the same time are sent in for the Oscars.
The Idol tells the true story of Mohammed Assaf. The Palestinian singer won the 2013 Arab Idol. He traveled from a refugee camp in the Gaza strip to Egypt to participate in the talent show.
Abu-Assad was two times before the Palestinian entry for the Oscars. Paradise Now in 2006, was awarded an Oscar for best foreign production in the wait, with the film Omar managed to do so in 2014.
Which films next year competing for the Oscar for best foreign production in January; then the nominees will be announced. The presentation of the statuettes on February 26, in Los Angeles.
