Sofiane Hanni speaks in Sports/Voetbalmagazine for the first time since his controversial wintertransfer from Anderlecht to Spartak Moscow. “I was ready with Anderlecht,” he says.
In the interview the French-Algerian playmaker out why he Russia chose. “I’ve tried to find a balance between a sporty and interesting project – any season of European play for the title fight – and a club where I financially could improve. In Spartak Moscow, I have both. Through Russia I can eventually also be a step up.
“A few weeks ago refused to Spartak have a bid of thirty million euros of Southampton for Quincy Promes, one of the best players of the team. Everton was also interested, I hear. In Russia, you have no less visibility than in Belgium.’
The first contacts with Spartak date back to november last year. Hanni: ‘Spartak Moscow was looking for a number ten and I was on the shortlist. Until January I heard nothing more, but when I was with Anderlecht on training camp in Spain, I got the confirmation that I am the first choice for Spartak.
“The Russians have it than re-take because they thought I was European not speelgerechtigd was. Everything came in a rapid after the competitiehervatting against Genk in which I scored, and when she understood that I was European or if play. For the match against Standard, all the parties to an oral agreement.’
Also Swansea and Burnley showed concrete interest, but found that Hanni is too risky: ‘For the same money, you play next year in the Championship.’
The hug from Roger Van den Stock
The question is why Anderlecht’s captain and most decisive player had to leave at a crucial time in the season. ‘Halfway through the season you captain sell is not logical’, acknowledge Hanni. “But everyone must understand that my situation was special, due to that whole issue with the fans. The board was also bored. On a day early Roger Vanden Stock me on the man or I wanted to stay. I have the “no” answer.
“The president understood my situation: to console myself after a match in which I was uitgefloten, he grabbed me once in the dressing room. He could not understand why the supporters are so on me afreageerden. He said: “I am disappointed that we have one of our best players lose. But I can’t get you against your way on Anderlecht maintain, since you are not here anymore to be happy.’
‘Marc Coucke wanted to also apparently that I stayed, but I was ready with Anderlecht and Belgium. I am so glad that the directors are the human side has shown me and has not tried to block. It is also not true that she is with me, they’re peddling. Allez, so I have not yet experienced. Roger and Herman have a few times called: do you really want to leave? They have offers from five and six million euros rejected. They were only after money, then had the clubs against each other to be able to play to my price artificially to rise.’
