Handbalverbond and coach Thomsen have ‘intention’ to proceed to Tokyo

The Dutch Handbalverbond (NHV) would like to continue with coach Helle Thomsen. According to technical director Paul van Gestel both parties after the turn of the year in conversation with each other about a further cooperation to the Olympic Games of 2020 in Tokyo.

“The intention is there to continue, and she has also stated an intention. But we still have to with each other around the table, because we all know her demands, not yet. We go in January in a conversation with each other,” says Van Gestel.

Thomsen has been since the european CHAMPIONSHIPS of 2016 coach of the handbalvrouwen. She followed Henk Groener, and was immediately successful. The Danish won silver with Orange at the european CHAMPIONSHIPS of 2016 and a year later, bronze in the world CHAMPIONSHIPS 2017 in Germany.

“It is two years ago happened very quickly with the drafting of the contract, I think we are in a new contract, what more the appointments. But the intention is there to continue until the Olympic Games of 2020 in Tokyo,” says Van Gestel.

Friday walked Thomsen and the handbalsters the european CHAMPIONSHIP final wrong by a defeat against France (27-21), Orange play Sunday at 14.00 the consolation class against Romania.
