Guillermo del Toro wrote the role Shape, or Water specifically for Sally Hawkins
The Mexican director Guillermo del Toro decided years ago to a role in a movie to create for Sally Hawkins, but he is the British actress ever in real life had met.
Del Toro won this weekend, the Golden Lion of the Venice film festival for his film The Shape of Water. Hawkins plays a deaf maid.
“I was Sally a few years before shooting of the film for the first time at a party”, the director tells The Hollywood Reporter. “When I told her that I film her wrote.”
Del Toro was to say very impressed with the performances of Hawkins. “The first time I saw her in the BBC series Fingersmith (2005, red). That was about a romance between two women in London.”
The series was “not sparkling, but very nice and, of course,” said Del Toro. The director praises the game of Hawkins in the comedy film Happy-Go-Lucky, which they, according to him, a “purity of her character gave giving you the whole story, however, would want to eat”. “After the Submarine, I said, I’m going to a movie for her writing. This is perfect.”
