Guard accused of teen inmate’s rape in Florida juvenile prison

ORLANDO, Florida. – A corrections officer is accused of the rape of an inmate in a juvenile detention center in Florida.

News outlets cite Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrest report says the 26-year-old Marcus Leon James forced himself on the 17-year-old girl Sunday night in an office in the factory in Orlando. The state Department of Juvenile Justice says in a statement that James is fired.

The sheriff’s office, says James Monday was arrested on charges of sexual battery by a custodian to a person who is under the age of 18 and sexual misconduct by a corrections officer.

Researchers say that James claimed the girl had consented to having sex with him.

He is jailed without bail and it is unclear whether he has a lawyer.
