Greek coast guard rescues more than seventy boat people
The Greek coast guard has the night from Sunday to Monday about seventy boat people rescued. The boat with the refugees dobberde to drift around the Aegean Sea.
The coast guard dragged the vessel to the port of the southern Velanidia. The engine of the boat was in the middle of the sea failed. Via the radio could be a distress signal to be given.
The Greek police suspect that the refugees in their journey from the Turkish coast were started, and to Italy, wanted to sail. The route through the Balkans is nowadays shunned by refugees. The refugees are likely to be found in one of the Greek refugee camps.
There is this winter a lot of criticism on the living conditions in Greek refugee camps. Both the European Union and the UN organizations, UNICEF and the UNCHR expressed their concerns about the situation in the camps.
