Great Dictation of the Dutch Language stops immediately after 26 years
Broadcaster NTR stops with the Big Dictation of the Dutch Language. The annual television program that for 26 years was to be seen, stop immediately. The ratings are too low, and the program has passed its peak, says the broadcaster.
“The Great Dictation is for many years an institute has been, but it has unfortunately had its day”, says Willemijn Francissen, an integral editor-in-chief knowledge in the NTR in the Volkskrant. “There’s a lot going on with language, young people, on social media. Saw you on tv, the dictation was archaic. The ratings are the last two hard years decreased: from 722.000 to 368.000.”
The NTR has, according to her, looked at a modern variant. The program would be shorter and more playful, with keypads and a stand-upcomedian. “That plan we disapproved. It was not innovative enough,” says Francissen.
A slotuitzending it does not sit. “You must not be clinging to a program that no longer works,” says the editor-in-chief. “In addition, it is also an expensive event.”
Presenter Philip Freriks, that the event in 1990 to Holland, is disappointed. “The Great Dictation has been around as long, it has a certain stature. I would say: be careful with them, see what is still possible, and please at least say goodbye in style. But no. We are the least in the household.”
